South-West Florida: Not Just a Place to Retire
For most people, when you think of what goes on in South-West Florida (SWFL) destinations like Naples, the first thing you probably think of is a group of retired folks playing golf or bridge at the local country club. While this certainly can be accurate, there is much more that can be found here than this image would suggest. I want to focus on three things in particular that prove SWFL can cater to any age group.
Let’s start with food. I think many will agree that having great food at your leisure is a great attribute of any place. Even for those who have experienced the best food around the country and world, SWFL certainly passes the test when it comes to quality eating. The great thing is that you don’t have to visit an upscale dinery to get a taste of the great cuisine. While Naples and the surrounding areas certainly offer upscale eating, I want to highlight a few places that give a great bang for your buck. Some of the local favorites in the area include Seasons 42 (Naples), which is your classic meat and seafood grill. Here, you will find everything from home-made lobster bisque to fillet mignon at a very reasonable price. Another great option is Le Indya in Naples which offers authentic Indian cuisine including Tandoori oven specials of lamb and chicken. For those craving a great pizza, you will find it at Grandpa’s Pizza in Bonita Springs where the specialty pizza is a fan favorite. Lastly, for your very own taste of Mexico, you would do well to visit Tacos y Ceviche's in Fort Myers!
The second thing that makes SWFL an ideal destination for all ages is the tropical weather. I believe the most beautiful time of the year here is from December to April, where you will experience average highs between 75-85 degrees and lows between 60-70 degrees. This weather allows you to do outdoor activities like going for walks, playing soccer, golf, ultimate frisbee, or tennis all year round. It’s hard to believe I haven’t even mentioned the beach yet, but it’s safe to say that the beaches here are up to par with the best ones in the world. Some of the most popular beaches include Lowdermilk Park and Vanderbilt beach in Naples; however, for a less crowded beach experience you can check out Barefoot Beach in Bonita Springs or Wiggins Pass State Park in Naples. Whether you love to fish, boat, run, swim, or simply enjoy laying in the sun, you will find a great place to do so here in SWFL. The best part about the beaches is that you will be able to enjoy them along with their ideal weather!
The last reason I believe SWFL is the perfect place for you to call home is the diversity of community that you can find here. Whether you are someone who desires to be a part of a faith community, soccer/sport community, business networking, you will find a group to be a part of. There are many young adult bible studies, men’s and women’s sports leagues, and networking groups available throughout the area. For anyone striving to become the best version of yourself, it is essential to have other people around you who are pushing you in the right direction. SWFL is filled with a very diverse community where you will find people to push you to become better in every area of your life, including your business and career goals. Naples in particular, has been named the No. 1 “happiest city in the nation” for four consecutive years by the Gallup National Health and Well-Being Index, measuring career, social, financial, community, and physical wellbeing. While these are three reasons to consider, there are many more reasons for you to discover why you may want to call SWFL your home one day!
